From local poverty alleviation organizations to schools and conservation groups, the city of Grinnell and surrounding communities are filled with people who welcome the help of Grinnell College volunteers.

The first time I served meals for Grinnell College Students was on a dreary Saturday morning in April. My colleagues from the College’s Center for Careers, Life, and Service (CLS) and I delivered over 240 meals on that deserted and lonely campus. In my experience of uncertainty and change while navigating Grinnell, I was mesmerized by the new realities of an unknown world.

Through the Social Innovator in Residence program, students will have the chance to engage with inspiring leaders who are making an enduring difference in the world, fostering interdisciplinary creativity, and promoting civic engagement and social change.
The residency provides world-class innovators time and space for respite, renewal, and inspiration while also serving as inspiration and mentor for our students.
